Dear Parents/Guardians,
Milk money, for this school year, will be collected on a monthly cycle at the cost of $.55 a day. If your child does not want milk for snack he/she can bring a drink from home. This milk money is only for milk at our snack-time! Payment may be made in cash (exact change) or check made payable to: Clark Board of Education and placed in an envelope with your child’s name and choice of flavor (white or chocolate). If your child misses school there will be no refunds as the milk is pre-ordered. Payment dates and cycles are as follows.

Homework Hints
1. Convey to your child your expectations about homework and stick to them.
2. Set aside a special time and proper study area each night for homework.
3. Create a homework survival kit which is a box with all the supplies that may be needed for homework (scissors, glue, pencils, crayons etc.).
4. Show interest in your child's homework including reading assignments.
5. Offer much praise and motivation.
6. Contact the teacher with any homework concerns.
7. Guide and assist children as much as needed.
8. Stay involved and informed.

Things to practice at home....
Things to practice at home:
- tying shoes
-reciting personal information such as birthday, address, phone number and age
-use the bathroom independently and hygiene tasks
- able to dress on his or her own (puts on coat and fastens, buttons, zippers, snaps)
- blowing his or her nose
- cleaning up personal space
- opening and closing back packs
- putting papers in a folder
- listening to a story without interrupting
Literacy/Phonemic Awareness
Literacy/Phonemic Awareness:
-Can recognize his or her first and last name in print
- Can write his or her first and last name
- Names uppercase letters in random order
- Can draw a picture to express and idea
- listens to a short story and answers questions
- recites the alphabet
-can begin to associate letters and their sounds
Read Everyday!
The most important activity to help your child develop language and reading skills is to practice reading everyday!
As you read, move your finger along under the words from left to right.
Point out sight words in text.
Allow your child to use the pictures as clues to help tell what is happening in a story
Discuss the main parts of a book such as the setting, characters
Read every night for a minimum of ten minutes
Class Reminders
Please remember to check and empty your child's folder every night.
If your child is buying lunch, please remember to send in a written note indicating his or her lunch choice for the day.
Please send in a small snack everyday separate from your child's lunch.
Read every night with your child.
Complete and return homework every Tuesday - Thursday night with your child.
